Witham MP Priti Patel has slammed Labour’s failed economic policies following the Chancellor of the Exchequer’s Spring Forecast Statement. The Office for Budget Responsibility’s forecast published shows that unemployment will continue to rise, growth is slowing and the Government is raiding more in taxes from families and businesses. Inflation is still above target, and remains higher than when Labour came to office in July 2024. Priti said:
“Labour’s failed economic policies are hitting hard-working families and businesses hard in Witham, Essex and across the country. The forecast data published today shows that Labour’s tax-grabbing, business-bashing, job-destroying policies are causing pain. From cancelling the A12 Widening Scheme, to cutting school budgets, to burdening businesses with higher taxes and to axing funding for a new primary school, Labour have betrayed Essex and their policies are harming our County. Every day they are in Government, Keir Starmer and Rachel Reeves are causing economic carnage.”
