Priti Patel, Member of Parliament for Witham, visited Southeast Galvanisers in Witham, to meet with senior managers and learn more about the important role the company plays in supporting local industry and infrastructure.
During the visit, Priti met with David Knight, General Manager, and Neil Pearson, Commercial Manager, to discuss the company’s work and its contribution to the local economy. South East Galvanisers, part of the Wedge Group – the UK’s largest hot-dip galvanising organisation – provides specialist galvanising services to a wide range of sectors, including construction, agriculture, transport, and energy.
The Witham plant is a key facility for Essex and the wider South East, offering skilled employment for local people while supporting regional supply chains and has been visited by Priti previously. By providing services locally, the plant helps reduce transport costs for businesses, strengthens local manufacturing, and supports the wider growth of the Witham area.
Speaking after the visit, Priti Patel said:
"I was delighted to visit South East Galvanisers again to hear about the contribution they are making to the local economy and their views on the business climate. The Witham plant not only provides valuable jobs for local people, but also supports many businesses across Essex and the South East. Their work helps strengthen our infrastructure and ensures that our region remains competitive and resilient."
The visit highlighted the benefits of their work, which extends the lifespan of steel products, reduces waste, and supports sustainability.
Priti Patel will continue to work with South East Galvanisers and other local businesses to champion investment in skills, infrastructure, and sustainable growth across Witham and the wider region.
