Priti Patel MP joined members of the Witham Royal British Legion and residents at the RBL Memorial Hall in Newland Street on Saturday (18th October 2025), to launch the official start of the 2025 Poppy Appeal in Witham Town at the annual Poppy Prom.
Priti, a long-term supporter and member of the Witham RBL, said: “The Legion in Witham is a marvellous organisation which raises a remarkable amount of money every year to support those who have served their country in the armed forces. I am delighted to be able to support the Legion and their volunteers at the start of this important appeal. I am sure that this will be another year when the people of Witham will, once again, come together to show their support for our armed forces past and present. I am delighted to give the annual Poppy Appeal a boost with a personal donation to help them kick off this year’s appeal.”
Robert Barker, the Secretary of the Witham branch said; “We are once again indebted to the Essex Concert Band whose members have freely given up their time to put on superb musical show for us, alongside the Essex Caledonia Pipe Band. The Poppy Prom is a much-loved celebration of British traditions which pay tribute to our armed forces.”
The annual Witham Remembrance Sunday Parade will take place on Sunday 9th November at 14:30hrs.
