Priti Patel, Member of Parliament for Witham, attended the Farnborough International Airshow to discuss the future of Britain’s defence, security and aerospace industries.
The Airshow brings together leading defence and aerospace businesses, international partners and government representatives to showcase new technologies and discuss the security challenges facing Britain and its allies.
During the visit, Priti discussed the importance of strengthening Britain’s defence capabilities, supporting innovation and ensuring British companies have the backing they need to invest, grow and contribute to the country’s national security. Priti also met representatives from AUVA, a certification company based in the Witham constituency which supports businesses working across aerospace, engineering and other specialist industries.
Speaking following the visit, Priti Patel MP said:
“Farnborough International Airshow showcases the very best of British defence, aerospace, innovation and engineering at a time when our country faces serious and growing security threats.
“Britain must invest in our Armed Forces, strengthen our sovereign defence capabilities and back the businesses developing the skills and technologies needed to keep our country safe.
“It was also a pleasure to meet representatives from AUVA, an outstanding business based in the Witham constituency. Companies like AUVA play an important role in maintaining high standards across aerospace and engineering and demonstrate the expertise and innovation we have locally in Essex.
“I will continue to champion British defence and aerospace businesses, including the excellent companies based in my constituency, and ensure they have the support need to grow and create more local skilled jobs.”
