Priti Patel, Member of Parliament for Witham, was delighted to attend the inauguration of the 7Spice restaurant at Prested Hall, a welcome new addition to the dining scene and a significant boost to the local community. The new restaurant, led by Satin Singh and his team, is poised to become a vibrant part of Witham’s culinary landscape.
“It’s always a pleasure to see new businesses flourish in Witham, and I’m thrilled to be part of the launch of 7Spice. This fantastic restaurant will enhance local dining options and contribute to the community’s economy and growth. I’ve known Satin and his team for a long time, and I look forward to working with them as they grow and succeed,” said Priti Patel.
Satin Singh, Manager of 7Spice, stated; “We’re thrilled to announce the grand opening of our new Indo-Chinese restaurant, 7 Spice at Prested Hall. Where authentic flavours meet vibrant culture! From spicy Manchurian to flavourful Hakka noodles, authentic Punjabi curries and aromatic biryanis to freshly baked naan and mouthwatering street food! We can't wait to share our passion for Indo-Chinese food with you all! Follow us for mouthwatering updates and sneak peeks of our delicious offerings!”
However, Priti also took the opportunity to address the ongoing challenges facing the hospitality sector. The recent cuts to business rate relief, a direct result of the Labour government’s budget, has placed additional strain on small businesses like 7Spice.
“It is a pivotal moment for recognising the real struggles that local businesses are facing right now. This feeble Labour government’s decision to slash business rate relief has made it much harder for our local restaurants to operate. It’s disappointing to see the impact their fiscal incompetence is having on family-run businesses, but I remain committed to supporting the local hospitality sector, ensuring they have the tools and resources needed to succeed despite these challenges,” Patel continued.
As part of her ongoing support for local businesses, Priti also expressed her strong support for the Save Our Local Pubs campaign, which stands up for the survival of local pubs facing unprecedented pressures. The Labour government’s decision to increase business rates and National Insurance contributions for employers, as well as the proposed pub garden smoking ban will make it harder for businesses to remain profitable.
“The local pub is a cornerstone of any community, and right now, it’s under threat. Labour’s economic mismanagement is putting these fantastic businesses at risk. The livelihoods of many thousands of hard-working people are not a price worth paying for the anaemic growth we’ve seen so far. That’s why I’m proud to support the ‘Save Our Local’ campaign, and will stand up for our pubs across Witham and the UK.” added Priti Patel.
