Priti Patel, Member of Parliament for Witham, joined representatives from Lift New Rickstones, Braintree District Council, the Football Foundation, and local sports clubs to mark the completion of a brand-new artificial grass pitch in Witham.
The new 3G pitch, located at Lift New Rickstones Academy, has been delivered thanks to investment from the Premier League, The FA, and Government’s Football Foundation, alongside Section 106 contributions. It will provide a high-quality facility for local people and sports clubs, increasing access to grassroots football and supporting healthier, more active lifestyles.
Speaking at the launch, Priti said:
“This new pitch is a fantastic investment in our community and will make a real difference to young people, families, and clubs in Witham. Grassroots sport is vital for health, wellbeing and opportunity, and I am proud to see Witham benefit from this partnership.”
The new facility is part of a wider programme to expand access to grassroots football across Braintree District, with three additional artificial pitches planned in Braintree and Witham following feedback from local clubs about the shortage of available facilities.
