Priti Patel, Member of Parliament for Witham, has announced the launch of her “Get Witham Growing” campaign, an initiative aimed at engaging students across the Witham constituency in gardening and horticulture.
The campaign will see Priti visiting a number of local schools as part of her continued engagement with education across the constituency. It is designed to encourage young people to take an active interest in gardening while developing practical skills and a stronger understanding of horticulture. Through hands-on activities such as planting seeds, nurturing plants, and learning about sustainable growing, pupils will gain valuable experience that supports both their educational and personal development.
Building on the success of previous years, “Get Witham Growing” continues to receive strong support from local schools, with teachers and pupils alike embracing the opportunity to take part in interactive and educational outdoor activities. The campaign forms part of Priti’s broader work to support schools across her constituency, alongside her “Get Witham Reading” campaign, which will be entering its 15th year and will be launched again this year.
Priti Patel said:
“I am delighted to once again be launching Get Witham Growing. I started this campaign to encourage children across the Witham constituency to get involved in gardening and to support their early years’ development. Gardening and horticulture play a vital role in building important life skills for young people.
“It is fantastic to see so many schools taking part again this year. Gardening not only teaches children how to grow plants and food but also helps them to develop patience, responsibility, and a greater appreciation for horticulture. I look forward to visiting all schools participating this year and seeing the enthusiasm of the students involved.”
