The Member of Parliament for Witham, Priti Patel, recently visited Stephensons of Essex at its Boreham depot in Waltham to meet with Managing Director Dean Robbie and discuss plans to improve local bus services and strengthen transport connectivity across the constituency and wider Essex.
The visit follows the announcement of the new Route 90 service between Witham and Maldon, which is expected to provide improved transport links for residents, particularly those living in rural communities where access to reliable public transport can often be limited.
During the visit, Priti toured the depot facilities and met with staff to gain a greater understanding of the day-to-day operation of local bus services. Discussions also focused on Stephensons’ continued investment in customer service, staff retention and wellbeing, and the company’s wider commitment to improving standards for passengers across Essex.
Speaking following the visit, Priti Patel MP said:
“I was delighted to visit Stephensons of Essex and meet with Dean Robbie to discuss their plans for improving local bus services, including the introduction of the new Route 90 service between Witham and Maldon.
“Reliable and accessible public transport is essential for local residents, particularly those living in our rural communities who depend on bus services to access work, education, healthcare, and other vital services.
“I welcome Stephensons’ continued investment in local transport and their commitment to strengthening connectivity across our constituency and wider Essex. I will continue working closely with local bus operators and raising the concerns of constituents to help ensure services meet the needs of our communities.”
