Priti Patel, the Member of Parliament for Witham, visited Colchester Institute this week to meet with A Level politics students and discuss the role of Parliament, government legislation, and what it means to serve as a constituency MP.
During the visit, Ms Patel spoke about her experiences in Parliament and explained how national legislation is developed and implemented. She also took questions from students on a range of political issues and questions on her time working in politics.
Speaking after the visit, Ms Patel said:
“It was fantastic to visit Colchester Institute and talk to their A Level students about government legislation and what it means to be a constituency Member of Parliament. It was also great to hear about their future aspirations after higher education, and how their personal views have developed since studying politics.”
