Witham MP Priti Patel has slammed the Labour Government for imposing 40% increases on toll charges to use the Dartford Crossing from 1 September 2025. The increases were announced in a Written Ministerial Statement this afternoon announcing that from 1 September 2025, car drivers will be charged £3.50 for a crossing, up from £2.50, and those on pre-pay will see their charges increase to £2.80 from £2.00. Van drivers will see their charges rise to £4.20 from £3.00 and vans on pre-pay will rise to £3.60 from £2.63. Priti said:
“Labour’s war on the motorist continues and these massive 40% increases in the costs of using the Dartford crossing are a new tax on those who rely on travelling between Essex and Kent. Families and small businesses who are already worse-off from Labour’s tax rises will be hit hard by these new charges.”
