Priti Patel, Member of Parliament for Witham, visited the newly refurbished Delta Hotels by Marriott, to meet with hotel management and discuss the impact of local infrastructure decisions on regional investment and business development.
During the visit, Priti met with Frances Charman, Group Sales Director, and James Barkhouse, Cluster General Manager, to tour the hotel’s upgraded facilities and discuss opportunities for collaboration with local authorities, as well as the impact of the A12 cancelations on local businesses.
Speaking after the visit, Priti Patel said:
“It was a pleasure to visit Delta Hotels by Marriott and see the significant investment that has gone into upgrading the facilities. This hotel is an important local employer and will play a key role in supporting tourism, business travel, and events across Essex.
I look forward to working with the management team and local councils to ensure that transport links and infrastructure, support continued economic growth and connections for businesses and visitors alike.”
The visit also provided an opportunity to discuss the wider impact of transport decisions, including the recent cancellation of the planned A12 widening scheme between Chelmsford and the A120. Local authorities have highlighted their concerns for regional growth, and investment potential, emphasising the importance of continued dialogue between government, businesses, and councils.
