Priti Patel, the Member of Parliament for Witham, hosted a public meeting with residents from the Redrow, The Mulberries development in Witham to discuss an extensive number of ongoing concerns relating to the maintenance, functioning and management of the Redrow development.
Representatives from Redrow Homes, the developer and Trinity Estates, the management company for the development responsible for service charges and associated maintenance of the site joined the meeting to listen to concerns and address questions.
A significant number of issues were raised that affect the day-to-day living environment on the estate, including sewage, drainage and infrastructure inadequacies, excessive maintenance charges, poor site maintenance and landscaping issues and poor communications with the residents on their concerns when raised.
Residents also highlighted serious concerns regarding antisocial behaviour across parts of the development, including damage to public spaces with no action being undertaken by local agencies.
Priti Patel said:
“This is our fourth local meeting with residents and I am disappointed by the inadequate way in which the serious concerns of residents have been handled and are being treated. I am grateful to residents for their diligent engagement and work with me on raising these concerns and the onus is on the two companies to get a grip and take action.
I will continue working closely with residents, Redrow and Trinity Estates to ensure that the issues raised are acted upon and that the improvements residents want to see across the estate are delivered.”
A spokesperson for Redrow Homes said:
“Redrow was pleased to attend the meeting chaired by Priti Patel MP, and grateful for the feedback from residents regarding their ongoing concerns. We will continue to work closely with the managing agent to ensure matters raised are addressed in the managed areas and wider Redrow development and provide regular updates to our customers.”
A spokesperson for Trinity Estates said:
Trinity is grateful for the time given by the residents and Priti Patel MP at the open meeting. We have taken on board the concerns relating to those areas under our management and are continuing plans to bring improvements in services and communication to the estate while assisting other stakeholders where we are able. We look forward to working closely with the residents’ group to meet our shared goals over the coming months and into the future.
