The number of people claiming unemployment related in benefits in the Witham constituency has risen by 115 in the year to June 2026. The latest figures published show 1,630 claimants in June 2026, up from 1,515 the previous year, representing a near 8% rise. Witham MP Priti Patel said:
"Unemployment keeps rising as Labour's job-destroying policies harm investment and growth. Businesses across this part of Essex are feeling the strain as new taxes and red tape from Labour along with rising energy prices, hit them hard. The Prime Minister may have changed this week, but the outlook remains bad with Labour's anti-business and anti-growth agenda still being pursued.”
